The staple product of the Norwegian Fish Importers line was the Crown Prince canned sardine. The name was directly derived from Norway, where different sardine varieties were designated with distinct monikers: Crown Prince, Three Star, and so on. The Crown Prince sardine was undoubtedly one of the most popular items. Thus, when the company expanded its offerings to include a wider range of seafood by 1985, adopting the "Crown Prince" name was a natural choice, as it allowed the company to build upon its well-established brand while acknowledging its origins nearly four decades prior.
